Can't make it to the lunch for Malaine on Monday. You are right, Eppie and I saw Malaine at Finale Art Gallery during the launch of artist who is working with Patis. See you soon I'm sure. Pipit Two Women in Art ODETTE CAGANDAHAN PATIS TESORO June 15 - 29, 2010 Tall Gallery, Upstairs Gallery and Video Room Warehouse 17, La Fuerza Compound Patis Tesoro and Odette Cagandahan never shared a life story until recently. An accomplished fashion designer and cultural icon, Patis is the embodiment of a Filipina in complete control of her powers. Having reached the full maturity of her gifts, she turns anything that she touches into a work of art. Odette, on the other hand, is an artist who is yet to uncover the range of her expressive skills and, through this show, has just been formally introduced to the Philippine visual art scene. Separated though they may be by social, economic and generational divides, Patis and Odette have crossed paths because of art. It was in a local group exhibit in Paete, Laguna where the two women met: Patis was one of the guests at the opening while Odette was one of the participating artists. The raw emotional force that underlined the figuration—self-portrait and faces of other people—in the young artist’s work caught Patis’ attention. Sophisticated though Odette’s technique may be, a robust local color, a sliver of native spirit charged her canvases. |

Hello, friends and loved ones, Hope you enjoy the re-telling of one of the most amazing days of my life.... Wednesday afternoon, July 29th, Ron gets a call at home from the White House: The President would like to invite you and your family to the Oval Office tomorrow afternoon to personally congratulate you on your retirement. Ashley and I were beside ourselves. To say that we are two of his biggest fans is an understatement. I would have given up every single photograph taken at each of the last 28 Christmas parties we attended at the White House with the four previous presidents, for ONE with Barack Obama. |

Girl's house was again the venue of the latest M&M Christmas Party. It was held on December 16, 2009 at 7 pm. The Center Table catered but Girl almost had a heart attack waiting for them to arrive; they mistakenly went to the Greenhills area in the Christmas traffic. Twenty three confirmed but 4 backed out at the last minute mostly due to bad colds from all the Christmas activities. Those who attended were Girl, Marite, Dido, Ads, Charlie, Garnet, Violet, Marimil, Monina, Melin, Myrna, Melanie, Yvonne, Farah, Chi, Jo-Ann Jopie, Cynthia, and I. Emy Belen was in towm for husband's reunion but couldn't be around for our Christmas Party. Too bad for us! Though Cynthia and I took her out to lunch on Dec 14. Nice and cozy! |

The new Eastwood Mall was the venue of Girl's birthday celebration this year. As all of you know, Girl is June-born. However, getting our eating group together has proven to be a feat this year. It's funny but August is closer to our (Evelyn's, Sheba's, and my) birthdays than it is to hers! We tried Mr. Kurosawa and enjoyed Japanese food with a European twist! I liked the way the restaurant was decorated in the industrial but stylish fashion. After lunch, we hied over to the Apple store in the mall and had fun trying out new gadgets and accessories for the Mac and IPods.
