A generation ago, Las Vegas was ruled by the boys – Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr, Dean Martin and Joey Bishop.   The Strip was for adults only featuring scantily clad show girls and gambling on everything imaginable.  Although some things remain the same there is definitely a change in the tide.  Buildings were imploded and magnificent super resort and casino complexes emerged from the rubble.

With this rebirth has come regime change – THE DIVAS:  Gladys Knight, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Tess Bustamante-Anderson……….and in Nov. the Babes (aka M & Ms) complete this invasion.

Talk has ensued from the early ‘90’s with the Silver (25th) and again for the Ruby (30th) jubilees for a US-based celebration.  Reunions in Southport, CT and Simi Valley, CA along with a slew of mini-reunions, once again sparked the desire for a Jubilee Celebration for classmates abroad.  With more and more of us being wired, we finally have corralled for the Coral Jubilee a handful of wild wonderful women for the first of hopefully many US-based MCHS Class of 1968 Jubilees.

In an effort to allow quiet time to renew friendship and take in sights and shows in Las Vegas, organized events had been kept to a minimum – welcome dinner and farewell breakfast. Much to our delight, Malu & a group from the West Coast  organized a Luau for Monday, Nov 10th at Tess Bustamante’s house as an extra bonus. 

There were 28 signed up from the US, Canada, Manila and beyond….

October 8 UPDATE: Ads called up Cynthia Morales of Miriam College to ask about the status of our plans to install the rest of the crosses for the Stations of the Cross project. They were supposed to give us a location plan as to where they wanted us to plant the crosses. All the crosses are done and we are just waiting for the go-signal from Miriam to install them. According to Cynthia, they haven't had time to attend to it (or maybe they forgot na all about it). Anyway, she said she will remind their architect, Bettina, to make the location plan and they will just give us a call when it's done.

October 25: Our landscaper Joey is requesting that the installation of the rest of the crosses be scheduled. He would not like to be rushing this when Holy Week comes around.
